WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

World Environment Day is held each year on June 5. It is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations (UN) stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.
Let's have a look to this year video where UN promote THINK-EAT-SAVE.

And here we can watch these videos at our teaching lessons to talk about environment and our problems.

INTERNATIONAL BOOK DAY

23 April is a symbolic date for world literature for on this date in 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died. It is also the date of birth or death of other prominent authors such as Maurice Druon, Haldor K.Laxness, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla and Manuel Mejía Vallejo.

It was a natural choice for UNESCO's General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone, and in particular young people, to discover the pleasure of reading and gain a renewed respect for the irreplaceable contributions of those who have furthered the social and cultural progress of humanity.

Here you have a  video  about Jasmine and her life with books ...

SPRING IS HERE

Today marks the beginning of Spring - when nature

sends her gentle reminder to reawaken the trees and

flowers.

What gentle reminder do YOU need?

Is there a goal you've been trying to reach or a task

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

-->
The "Lawrence Textile Strike" or "Bread ans Roses strike" was a strike of immigrant workers in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1912 led by the Industrial Workers of the World.
Prompted by one mill owner's decision to lower wages when a new law shortening the workweek went into effect in January, the strike spread rapidly through the town, growing to more than twenty thousand workers at nearly every mill within a week.
The strike lasted more than 2 months.
The slogan "Bread and Roses" originated in a poem of that name by James Oppenheim, published in The American Magazine in December 1911, which attributed it to "the women in the West."

Kronos and Xplane created this video in honor of International Women's Day (March 8th). The purpose of this video is to provide viewers with a look at several interesting facts and statistics about the changes and developments that have impacted women in the workforce.

What does equal mean to you?

And for all the women in the world, my best wishes
