HALLOWEEN HISTORY

For thousands of years people have been celebrating different holidays and festivals at the end of October. The Celts celebrated it as Samhain (pronounced "sow-in", with "sow" rhyming with cow).
The Celts believed that
every year on the last day of October, the souls of the dead visited the earth.
When the Romans conquered the Celts in the first century A.D., they added parts of their festivlas to the tradition.

Around the eighth century, the Christian church made November 1 All Saints' Day to honor all of the saints that didn't have a special day of their own. Over the years these festivals combined, the mass held on All Saints' Day was called Allhallowmas . The night before was known as All Hallows Eve. Eventually this name became Halloween.

In this link down you have lots of activities to play, watch and make. Happy Halloween!!!

AUTUMN IS HERE!!!

Autumn is here - a time for transition. In the northern hemisphere this means cooler, shorter days, the appearance of colorful foliage, harvest time, and feasts and festivals.
Here you have a poem about it
Down! Down!
Yellow and brown
The leaves are falling
Over the town.
September is a time
Of beginning for all,
Beginning of school
Beginning of fall.

The sunflower children
Nod to the sun.
Summer is over,
Fall has begun!
The leaves are falling
One by one.
Summer's over
School's begun.
Off to school
We go together
In September's
Sunny weather.
"Come, little leaves," said the wind one day,
"Come o'er the meadows with me and play:
Put on your dresses of red and gold -
For summer is gone and the days grow cold."

Here you have some activities to celebrate that Autumn/ Fall is here
